Summer Exhibition 2014

We are very excited by this year’s line up of new and returning artists at Mellerstain Gallery. We have brought together a fascinating collection of abstract and figurative work for the Summer Exhibition 2014. A number of paintings have been inspired by the Scottish landscape, including the land immediately surrounding Mellerstain, but we also featured work from India, Japan and Singapore. As well as exhibiting in the ground floor gallery, we have made use of the terraces for a number of breathtaking outdoor sculptures; Andrea Geile brought a documentary crew with her for the installation of Ivy Happiness in the garden, and we look forward to being featured on prime time German television in the near future!

The catalogue of work for sale is available on the Artists page.

The exhibition is open Friday to Monday. Entry times 12.30 – 5.00pm (Last admittance 4.15pm)

McClure Art at Mellerstain, 2013

For 2 months only the Mellerstain Gallery, in partnership with McCLure Art, will host an exhibition of the finest in modern and contemporary art from around Scotland.

Visitors will enjoy a wide range of painting, print and sculpture, all for sale, by modern masters whose work is seldom to be found beyond the principal Edinburgh galleries.

We shall be proudly displaying works by Alexandra Gardner, Alison McGill, Ann Oram, Calum McClure, Celyn Bricker, Claire Harkes, David Michie, Elizabeth Blackadder, Henry Kondracki, Janice Gray, John Byrne, Katie Ward, Lynn McGregor, Morag Muir, Paola McClure, and Stephanie Dees.

I am delighted to be working with the Mellerstain Art Gallery again having done so previously during my time with the Scottish Gallery. I have selected a varied mixture of excellent work from well-know established painters and emerging Scottish artists including work by my late father, David, my sister Paola and eldest son Calum to be shown alongside choice works from Mellerstain’s own stable of artists.

Visitors on the McClure Art mailing list will be allowed entry to the house and exhibition for a reduced rate of £5.00 on production of invitation card or e-mail invitation.

The exhibition is open Friday to Monday. Entry times 12.30 – 5.00pm (Last admittance 4.15pm)

Summer Exhibition 2012

The walls of Mellerstain Gallery saw a blaze of light and colour in spite of the wettest summer on record. Celebrated artists from around Scotland (and some from further afield) brightened our space with painting, printing, sculpture, ceramic and mosaic.

Amongst a terrific selection of contemporary landscape painting, Alan Cameron and Calum McClure exhibited work inspired by Mellerstain House and the grounds itself (pictured).
