Alexandra Gardner

(b. 1945)
 
Studied at the School of Art in her native Glasgow from 1963-8 under David Donaldson and taught there until 1988.
 
The winner of many awards, the artist has works in numerous significant public and private collections in the UK and abroad. She has shown regularly with many major UK galleries including The Portland Gallery in London and The Scottish Gallery in Edinburgh.
 
Alexandra works across a wide range of genres including the nude, still life, figure painting, portraits, landscape and atmospheric interiors. One of her most recent major series revolves around ‘La Traviata” as staged by Scottish Opera.
 
Her love of flamboyant costume is seen in her figure pieces both in oils and in her superbly drawn works on paper.
