“My work is strongly influenced by nature – particularly that of the landscape. I incorporate wax with oil paint and other mixed media to create textures and tactile surfaces and while I also look to the more conventional landscape for inspiration I enjoy abstracting certain elements and allowing the wax and oil paint to lead me – creating interesting textures and unexpected effects. The scope of my interest in this subject stems from my exploration into aerial photography and geological images. As a result, my paintings and prints lean towards abstraction as there is an ambiguous quality in nature which fascinates me.”
