Matthew Harris

Matthew Harris graduated in 1987 from the textile course at Goldsmiths College, London.
He makes work that employs dying, cutting and hand-stitching, ‘…concerned primarily with abstract imagery and the translation of drawn marks into cloth, in pieces that explore repetition, pattern and the disrupted or dissonant journey of line and image across and through the surface of cloth.’
Matthew has recently exhibited at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery; Stroud International Textile Festival; the Snyderman Gallery, Philadelphia, U.S.A.; Gallery Handwerk, Munich; Contemporary Applied Arts, London; and the Ozone Gallery, the Axis Gallery and Gallery Aoyama, Tokyo – among many notable arts venues.
